Zagreb: The Croatian Journalists’ Association (CJA) condemned the siege countries demands of closing Al Jazeera Media Network.
The association supported its colleagues in regional centers of the network in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, as well as in other countries.
CJA said: “Politicians should not use interstate disputes for attacking media pluralism and freedom of expression; therefore insisting on closing down Al Jazeera is not admissible”.
Al Jazeera Media Network meanwhile, launched a campaign to support press freedom, in response to demands of closing its channels and blocking its websites made by countries putting the State of Qatar under siege.
Al Jazeera called in the campaign for supporting its independent voice, and supporting the right of people in making their voices heard.
The network added in a statement it released that the attack and false accusations it is being subjected to was a targeting of freedom of press and expression, and not just a campaign against a media institution that managed within two decades to enhance its role as one of the best in the world and attracts millions of viewers in 150 countries.
