October 19, 2017 / By Ghana News

Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful today said it is absurd for anyone to suggest that the 131 radio stations sanctioned by the National Communications Authority (NCA) were targeted for political reasons.

The Minister also said it is preposterous for anyone to suggest that the implementation of a law that Parliament passed is a threat to media pluralism when in fact the NCA had in the past taken steps to rather issues more licenses for more stations to be opened.

Ursula Owusu- Ekuful was making a station in Parliament in respect of the recent sanction of some 131 radio station that has generated huge controversy and debate about the government’s commitment to media pluralism as against monetizing free speech.
